The Uses of Dust Sensors

Sep 17, 2022

The dust sensor is mainly used to detect dust concentration in the environment. At present, people have higher and higher requirements for living, working and living environment, and the harm of productive dust to the human body is becoming more and more prominent. The working principle is mainly light absorption, light scattering, β-ray, microcomputer laser and AC electrostatic induction; it is mainly suitable for various research institutions, meteorology, public health, industrial labor hygiene engineering and air pollution research. Dust sensors are widely used in CDC, mining and metallurgy, chemical manufacturing, health supervision and environmental monitoring. There are five main rapid detection methods, including light scattering, β-ray, micro-weight balance, electrostatic induction, and piezoelectric balance. The instruments of micro-weight balance are now basically monopolized by a few American companies, with high prices and high maintenance costs. The electrostatic induction is generally used to detect whether the bag is leaking after the bag dust collector. The use of piezoelectric balance is more troublesome, and there are few manufacturers.

There are many foreign and domestic manufacturers of dust sensors by light scattering. It is divided into ordinary light scattering and laser light scattering. Because of the repeatability and stability of laser light scattering, it has completely replaced the ordinary light scattering method in Europe, America and Japan. If you choose a good manufacturer, you can obtain high-cost performance. The quality of domestic sensors varies greatly, and attention should be paid to selecting manufacturers with guaranteed quality.

Applications of infrared dust sensors: air conditioners with purification functions, air purifiers, vehicle purification equipment, portable detectors, fresh air systems, intelligent detectors and other fields. The main applications of dust sensors are as follows:
  • It is suitable for the detecting concentration of dust at the production site of the labor department of industrial and mining enterprises.
  • It is applied to monitoring inhalable particulate matter in public places of health and epidemic prevention stations.
  • It is applicable to atmospheric dust detection and pollution source investigation by the environmental protection monitoring department.
  • It can be used for municipal supervisor smoking.
  • It is applied to on-site testing in scientific research and filter performance tests.
  • It is used for measuring and monitoring on-site concentration of dust, concentration of dust in exhaust outlets.
  • It is used for testing drug manufacturing.
  • It is used for occupational health and safety testing.
  • It is used for where the factory needs clean air, the management of the manufacturing process of precision instruments, testing instruments, electronic components, food and medicines.
  • It is used for various research institutions, meteorology, public health, industrial labor hygiene engineering and air pollution research.
  • It is used for detecting dust in construction or blasting places and monitoring construction sites.
  • It is used for testing indoor air quality.

The PM2.5 dust laser sensor LD07 is a high-precision particle dust sensor based on the laser MIE scattering theory. It can continuously collect and calculate the number of suspended particles with different particle sizes in the air per unit volume, that is, the distribution of the particle, and then convert into the mass concentration and output in the form of a universal digital interface. This PM2.5 dust sensor can be embedded in various instrumentation or environmental improvement equipment related to the concentration of suspended particulate matter in the air to provide timely and accurate concentration data.
