Sensors
With the improvement of living standards, people are paying more and more attention to the quality of air, especially now that winter is approaching; there are more and more hazy days. As the main composition of smog, PM2.5 has attracted much attention, and detection equipment for PM2.5 in the air is also emerging one after another. In the current field of detecting dust particles PM2.5, there are mainly two kinds of dust sensors, that is infrared PM2.5 sensors and laser dust sensors.
1. Structure and principles of pm2.5 infrared dust sensors and dust laser sensors
The structure and circuit of the infrared PM2.5 sensor are relatively simple. The light source is an infrared LED light source. The air inlet and outlet are mainly heated by resistance to obtain hot air flow. When particles pass through, a high level is output. The output signal has a PWM model.
The pm2.5 infrared dust sensor GDS06 uses the principle of optical scattering to measure the dust concentration within the detection range through the conversion of the optical path and the circuit. The high-precision dust sensor GDS06 has the characteristics of small sizes, high precision, low power consumption, short response time, and stable operation under high dust concentration. This pm2.5 detection module can be used in air purifiers, fresh air systems, and air conditioners with purification functions and PM2.5 detectors.
The structure and circuit of the laser dust sensor are relatively complex. The light source is a laser diode. The sampled air is pushed by a fan or blower through a complex designed air duct for detection. When the fine particles in the air enter the area where the laser beam is located, the laser light will be scattered; the scattered light is radiated within the angle of 360°. We place the photodetector in an appropriate position so that it only receives the scattered light, and then a current signal is generated through the photoelectric effect of the photodetector. After amplifying and processing by the circuit, the concentration of fine particles can be obtained. The output signal is generally serial output.
LD10 laser dust sensors
The laser dust sensor LD07 is a high-precision particle sensor based on the laser MIE scattering theory. It can continuously collect and calculate the particle concentration distribution per unit volume and output it in the form of a general digital interface. The dust sensor pm2.5 detection module can be embedded in various instruments such as air purifiers or environmental improvement equipment related to the concentration of suspended particulate matter in the air, providing timely and accurate concentration data.
2. Measurement accuracy of laser dust sensors and infrared PM2.5 sensors
Pm2.5 infrared dust sensors can only detect particles above 0.5 microns. The laser dust sensor can detect particles bigger than 0.1 microns.
3. Applications
The dust sensor is mainly used for industrial and mining dust. The detection object is dust with big particle sizes and high concentrations. The detection level is mg/m3, which cannot accurately measure the concentration of PM2.5. The laser dust sensor is mainly used in the field of PM2.5 detection to quantify PM2.5 with precision. It can be embedded in a household (vehicle-mounted and hand-held) air detectors and air purifiers. In addition, laser sensors are also used for data collection for the Internet of Things, environmental quality detection and other fields.
LD07 Laser dust sensors
Before laser sensors entered the civilian field, I noticed that infrared sensors were widely used in air purifiers. However, with the development of the air purification industry, the cost of laser sensors is gradually decreasing, and end customers have higher and higher requirements for accurate air quality measurement. Using laser sensors to accurately quantify PM2.5 is a recognized trend in the industry. At present, many air purifiers use laser sensors.
Air purifiers
Infrared PM2.5 sensors and laser dust sensors have their advantages, it’s hard to tell which one is better. It all depends on the needs of customers, such as requirements for costs, accuracy, signal output, applications, and related particulate matter to be tested, so that a detector that is suitable for you can be selected. We focus on the research and production of optical particle sensor technology. Our sensors have been well praised in the industry in terms of measurement accuracy, stability, consistency error, anti-interference and other performance indicators.
