PM2.5 Sensors

Oct 24, 2022

Working underground in coal mines is dangerous, and there is a certain amount of productive dust in it. If it cannot be detected and treated in time, there may be different degrees of health hazards. The main rapid detection methods for dust are light scattering, β-ray, micro-weight balance, electrostatic induction and piezoelectric balance. Among them, the instrument of micro-weight balance is monopolized by a few American companies, with high prices and high maintenance costs; the instrument of electrostatic induction is generally used to detect the leakage of the bag after using the bag filter; the use of the piezoelectric balance is troublesome, and there are few manufacturers.

A dust sensor is a professional device for detecting the concentration of dust in the environment, with principles of light absorption, light scattering, beta ray, microcomputer laser and AC electrostatic induction. It is widely used in CDC, mining and metallurgy, chemical manufacturing, health supervision, environmental monitoring and other fields. The dust sensor with light scattering is divided into dust sensors with ordinary light scattering and laser light scattering. The dust sensor with laser light scattering has completely replaced ordinary light scattering in Europe, America and Japan due to its repeatability and stability. In addition, both the laser PM2.5 sensor and the ordinary infrared LED light are based on the principle of light scattering for particle detection, but the two are different in reaction speeds. The laser beam emitted by the laser PM2.5 sensor is more penetrating than ordinary light, which can accurately monitor accumulated particles in the same space.

The principle of light scattering is that scattering of light happens for particles and molecules under the irradiation of light. At the same time, they will also absorb part of the energy of the irradiated light. When a beam of parallel monochromatic light is incident on the particle field under test, it will be affected by scattering and absorption around the particle, and the light intensity will be attenuated. In this way, the relative attenuation rate of incident light passing through the concentration field to be measured can be obtained. The relative attenuation rate can linearly reflect the relative concentration of dust in the test field. The magnitude of the light intensity is proportional to the strength of the electrical signal converted by photoelectric conversion. By measuring the electrical signal, the relative attenuation rate can be obtained, and then the concentration of dust in the field to be measured can be measured.

The PM2.5 sensor can detect the concentration of dust particles in the surrounding air. In aerodynamics, dust with a diameter of less than 10 microns can directly enter the alveolar area of the human body through organs, while dust particles larger than 10 microns are deposited by impact, most of which are deposited in the nasopharynx; dust less than 10 microns will enter the respiratory tract. Dust with a diameter of less than 5 microns will be deposited in the alveoli, which will cause respiratory infections and even lung diseases in the human body.

The dust sensors manufactured by our company are a high-tech product that integrates aerodynamics, digital signal processing, and optoelectronic integration. They are mainly used to detect the concentration of dust (PM values) in the atmosphere, which are suitable for construction sites, urban grid monitoring, mobile monitoring and other fields, and are the core module of detecting the air quality system.

The technical characteristics of the laser dust sensors are relatively advanced, which are as follows:
Accurate data: detected by laser and industrial-grade photoelectric induction
High resolution: greater than and equal to particle sizes with 0.3um, 0.001mg/m³
Function: detecting PM2.5, PM10 and TSP
Stable performance: adapting to different atmospheric environment dust material composition with independent parameter coefficient adjustment
Data transmission: 485 (Modbus standard protocol) or RS232, UART output and being able to connect to outdoor sound and light alarm equipment
Intelligent monitoring: real-time monitoring of various indicators of the sensor, and timely giving feedback to users in case of abnormal state

Although there are many manufacturers for laser dust sensors at home and abroad, the quality of the sensors is quite different. When purchasing sensors, we should pay attention to choosing manufacturers with good quality. Chengdu Pulse Optics-tech Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise specializing in developing and manufacturing air sensors with good quality. We have a first-class R&D team. Our sensors have accounted for a large proportion in domestic and foreign markets, providing highly competitive high-quality air detection and treatment products and after-sales service, helping users achieve the goal of efficient and convenient work, and striving to create long-term value for customers.
